My friend has a sniper rifle and he tends to stay on hill tops(with trees) when he is sniping. He told me that he gets more accurate shots and he can also see across the map.

Some one plays a little too much COD, its real life...its a field not a map lol. |

Anyone who wants to add to this (VANDAL) please do. I AM NOT A SNIPER! But I do know a lot about it. 1. Don't stand up-It will give you away 2. Relay information to your teamates 3. Make sure you know what your shooting at-you might hit a teamate 4. Stayed consealed 5. READ MY SIGNATURE 6. Don't believe you'll never be found 7. Move after every 2-3 shots or they will find you (I know a lot of this is common sense but we NEED to get the forums rolling again and some people  don't have any common sense) I want the few snipers that were on my team last game to know rule 2, and 7. |

I'm not a sniper, but on sunny days use the scope cover. I know I'd certainly be drawn to shoot at something that just went all shiny (nature = no shiny, airsofters = shiny.)

I dont have a sniper yet but ive used my friends snipers a few times and i noticed (this is common sence) use youre periferal vision before cockin the bolt. U can look for small movments that go in opposite directions of the wind and might even notice a sniper set up on a bipod not to far away aiming at u or firing at ur team mates. Before a game starts up it might be usfull to make notice or map out key land marks or natural formings of paths, That way when you see a giant clump of bushes next to a giant oak tree that wasnt there before with a giant rod jutting out of it, u can examin it with ur higher magnifications and look for obvious human like features and fire at the target.

Well your eyes should be able to detect movement, if it is a decent range, our eyes naturally do that. Even when not honed in on one spot, your eyes will automatically detect movement and you will look in that area.

I have 2
1)If there are 2 or more people, wait for most or, if possible, all of them to turn away, so the others don't see the direction and hope the one you shot doesn't tell them.
2)When using the Shoot and Scoot method (when you take a shot, run and so on) take, light, fast steps and be sure of your footing, so you don't make too much sound or fall over.

There was an episode of future weapons when a German commander talked about their new tanks that were designed to "shoot and shkoot." Very funny. But it is a good tactic, as long as your scooting is more stealthy and your shooting.
