When you hear BONZAI,burn the grass...or else...

« on: January 16, 2010, 03:09:14 PM »

Hello, i was just wondering if bypassing a blown fuse is safe. If it is safe, do i keep it together with electrical tape? (I'm talking about the little brass/copper claws)

well why did your fuse blow in the first place and what was the amperage of it?

aeg's are simple circuts but if there is something pulling more than amps than the fuse you want to make sure that the wireing is still good.

The wiring is fine, i am just wondering if it will harm the gun if i dont use the fuse. and if i can use electrical tape to keep it together, or any other tape.

and you wont know that unless you figure out why the fuse went out,  did you hold down the triger for a long time, did the gun get droped, or did it just blow?    fuses going can mean operator error or it can mean there is a problem if its an opperator error you will brake the gun if you bypass the fuse or not,  but if something is causing the motor or triger switch to need more amps to function right then its the early signs of something needing to be replaced and fuse or no fuse will change that.

Ignoring why the fuse blew as topsis said (i'll just pretend you broke it on purpose or something like that), not having a fuse could be harmful. It makes something like stripping your pinion gear very likely. If you're running a Lipo i would say definitely not.

But what I would do is buy another fuse (just look on ASC and shipping isnt a problem) and see if it blows. If it does, then its something else like topsis said. If it doesn't then I would say you are good to go. Corect me if I'm wrong.

I would just replace the fuse. You've got a much better chance of doing serious damage to your gun by bypassing the fuse.

Yeah... why is this even an issue? You can pick one up anywhere for cheap.

Fuses, probably one of the easiest repairs ever. Fuses can be found at any auto parts store.

this happened to me once...
i left my m15 in the car too long and it was a hot day...
the fuse literaly melted in the heat
i bypassed it as i was desparate and this dramaticly reduces battery life
safe for the gun
kills batterys
if your looking for a new fuse it will be a 15 amp Smiley
hope this helps

...Safe for the gun...

Definitely not safe for the gun. The reason the fuse is there is so that if something malfunctions, the fuse will be destroyed and the curcuit won't be completed, thus saving your internals from the sudden surge in power which destroyed the fuse.

Should you bypass the fuse and a surge happens again, the curcuit will be perpetually complete, allowing whatever blew out your fuse to blow out whichever parts it can get to.

Not a good call.
