www.cpxsports.comThis is a few minutes of the Russian's after we retook the hill connecting two town themed fields.
Got to the field at 0800, fully geared up and trying to early (briefing wasn't until 1030) with hopes of getting in before the crowd showed up. My battle buddy Vince and I were playing for Mother Russia(Green based camo) vs. America(Tan based camo). There were 6 flags spread out through the combined 5 field area, about 1 square mile in total. The object was to control the most flags at the end of the game, with little special missions interlaced through the game. If you completed a special mission, you were allowed certain perks (extra ammo, more medics allowed, etc.). Here comes the killer, we were told to expect around 150 players on that day, and to our surprise the final tally was 603 players. 233 on the Russian side, and 370 on the American side. This is the LARGEST event that any Illinois field has ever seen.
We got briefed, reviewed maps, and made sure we were all good to go, and then the rain hit us. Temperatures fell into the 30s and the field started to get incredibly muddy and fun. I loved every second of it. We initially lost one half of the town, (which you can see us start to retake in the video) and much of the forest, but about half way through the game, we pushed them back and retook the hill, retook the flag point in the forest, and pushed them all the way back into their spawn point. I at one point had found myself in a group with about 30 guys trying to retake the forest control point. We got hit pretty hard, and about 10 of my guys went down, the rest dug in and were getting hammered with fire. At this time I flanked around by myself to try and draw attention, but much to my surprise they didn't notice me moving around to their side. At about 170ft from the enemy point, I started to crawl through the mud all the way up to about 70 ft from their position with good concealment, and started to snipe at them. I tagged 16 of their 35-40 sized squad before they noticed that they were getting hit from the side. In which their attention turned to trying to find me, and I radioed in for my guys to push. They did, retook the CP and drew enough fire for me to get up and get the hell out of dodge. I also was one of the first up the hill in the video and started to pick off people one by one from atop the hill. All together absolutely great game. There were a few vendors at the site, and I was able to get another intellect 8.4 1600mah for $20.
Total K/D: 37 confirmed, possible 70+, 7 Deaths. A good day for sure.
